CREATIVITY OVERLOAD This Summer - With @PerlerBrand & Imagination

Summer months can tend to be hot, long and sometimes boring for the kids.
The kiddos start missing their school schedule, their friends and the hussle & bussle that the school year brings.  I always commend teachers, for keeping our kids brains functioning at full capacity day after day, during the school year.
That is not an easy job, by any means!

No products were sent for this review/feature!  I purchased the Perler Beads and Peg Boards on my own accord.  I was not offered any monetary compensation by posting about our experience with Perler Beads.
So as a mom, I do the best I can during the summer to keep that BRAIN WHEEL spinning.  I always hope that my kids are able to retain what they learned the following year and be ready for the year ahead.  Not only do they have things they are responsible for on a daily basis during the summer months, but I love finding activities and places to visit, that will also continue to grow their brain.

That means (FEEL THE PRESSURE MOMS?), this mommy needs to find activities that will keep them busy and a fun, non brain-draining way.

Thankfully, we met a product, that I was able to purchase at HOBBY an 18,000 piece kit (ha ha, I mean, we have six kids and you read that right...18,000 pieces)...that should keep them pretty busy and keep creativity flowing all summer long.

Perler Beads are tiny little beads that you place on a peg board (which I also purchased at Hobby Lobby) and then fuse (melt) together with an iron (under the special ironing paper).

The Perler website has tons of ideas of creative things you can make, but we are starting with the basics and going from there.
It was amazing to me that three of the four kids that were home yesterday sat for at least an hour putting these little perler beads on the board.  It takes coordination.  It takes creativity (picking colors and patterns), it takes patience (the beads tip over and you have to start over), and it takes a little help from mom (with the hot iron).
ULTIMATELY, it's satisfying to see the finished result!
I mean, look at their faces!
We even created a mini "BEAR DOG" with these perler beads!
Doesn't he look thrilled?
Are you looking for things to do with your kids this summer?
If you haven't tried perler beads, I would suggest you check them out.
Keep in mind, they are little beads, so this would definitely need to be a supervised activity for smaller kids (who might put the beads in their mouths).
This is definitely an older (school aged) kid activity!

I'm not going to lie!  I LOVE SUMMER!
Don't you?
I love not having to set an alarm for super early morning wake ups!
Sleeping in, during the summer, is the best!

I was not paid in any way by posting about this idea for the summer!  I was not offered any monetary compensation by posting this idea I found I pinterest and sharing with other parents about this way to keep their kids motivated and accountable this summer!

But I also want to keep our kids accountable this summer!
The struggle is real!
Despite my desire to slack and soak up the sunshine...I need to make sure they stay functional, because the next school year will be quickly approaching.

MY APPROACH this summer is this:
I found this on PINTEREST (click on it and it will link you right to it) and I love it!

I printed one out for each of the kids and every morning, it's their responsibility to do all the stuff on the top of the list and at least two to three things on the bottom of the list.
Our youngest...who is a total GO SUPER MOTIVATED by it!
He loves having a list to check off his accomplishments!
He gets up, gets the things on the top of the list checked off and then starts on the bottom.
This morning, he's coloring a bookmark he made out of plain printer paper.
Everyone else in the house is still sleeping, but this kid is all ready, ready for his day, singing GOD BLESS AMERICA while he colors!
If you have kiddos at home and are looking for a way to keep them motivated and accountable this summer...I recommend trying this out!  So far, even with my older seems to be working.
Our electronic obsession is taking a back seat to things, until their SUMMER RULES check list is completed daily!

How do you keep your kids busy and motivated during the summer?
Please share your ideas in the comments below!

Summer Snacking With GLUTEN FREE @RWGarciaSnacks

Summer is here!
**Insert Excited CLAPPING here!!**

I was not paid to feature this post!  All products were sent by the company, free of charge, for this review/feature!  I was not offered any monetary compensation by offering my opinion on these products.

That means that our kids are home from school all day long!
That also means that our kids will be HUNGRY all day long!
Not even joking about that!
So when RW Garcia sent us a box with a few different crunchy snack options for us to try out...
I was delighted!

The Kale and Beet Artisan Crackers are great dipped in hummus (we love different flavors of hummas).  I really enjoy the flavor of the Beet crackers by themselves.  The Kale crakers have a stronger "KALE" flavor/ offering a dipping option for these is a good idea, especially if you want to coax your kids into eating these healthier snacking options.
Of course, their MixtBag Chips are a family favorite.  Dipped in salsa, hummus , guacamole (as seen above) or even just eaten alone, these crunchy & lightly salted chips are colorful and delicious!
All four of these RW Garcia snack choices are the perfect addition to a summer day by the pool, to be packed in a picnic lunch for the beach, or even for movie snacking on a summer night.

CLICK HERE to find where the closest retailer of RW Garcia Snacks is for you, and stock up for summer!  Especially if you have kids and want them to enjoy healthier snacking options when they are STARVING all summer long!

This Could Be Their Summer Drink Of Choice - @Good2GrowDrinks

Schools ALMOST out for summer!

All products for this review/feature were sent free of charge by the company.  I was not offered any monetary compensation by posting our honest opinion about these juices from Good2Grow.

That means long days by the pool and six thirsty children too!
Our kids get bored of water super quick...but finding a drink that is not filled with "FAKE" sugars and unhealthy additives is difficult.  We have to be especially careful with a pre-diabetic child in the house, so most of the "kiddie" drinks are a no go in our home.   Those drinks always taste great and they want them, they crave them, and it's hard to make them drink only water.
So what's a mama to do?
I love finding products that offer the kids the satisfaction of drinking something sweet, while offering me, as a MOMMY, the chance to give them something healthy too.
We were sent three GOOD2GROW Drinks to try out.
Have you guys tried them before?

Not only do these bottles have adorable "characters" sipper lids to drink from...but the juice inside is equally as great!
They are easy to drink too, all you do have to peel the label, undo the lid and take the seal off the top...but even my smallest could do this on his own, with a little help from mom to get the initial label off.
They all loved these juices too!  Not a single complaint!  Little did they know that they were made with no added sugar and nothing (NOTHING) artificial!
In fact, they sucked them right down after their evening swim at their Grandma's house.
These bottles are adorable & also "fairly" spill proof (the bottles do leak if you shake them really hard), which our kids thought was super cool and they can be cleaned out and used again (filled back up with water or other fruit juices)...or we can simply buy MORE of them.
Lots more!
I'll be asked for these all summer long, I have a feeling!
What do you offer your kids to drink, when they are thirsty during the hot summer months, besides water?  Maybe you should consider there Good2Grow juices for your family?

CLICK HERE to learn more about them and find out where you get them in a store near you!
I looked, and they are sold in 20 retailers right near me!

I'm Sick To My Stomach - MILLENNIALS...Is This Where We Are Headed?

I just watched one of the most disturbing videos on YouTube that I've seen in quite a while.
I'm so bothered & upset about it, I had to come home from dropping all of our kids off at school to talk it over with you guys!

I was not paid to feature this post!  I was not compensated in any way by posting my opinion on this topic!  I'm truly upset and disgusted and need to share, in hopes of opening some eyes to the generation we are raising!

PARENTS...we need a wake up call...LIKE RIGHT NOW!!

Please watch this video (all of it):
How do you feel after watching it?
Do you feel bad for the Millennial Generation?
Does it make you want to sponsor a child?

Want to know how it makes me feel?  Sick to my stomach!  Like I better step up my game as a parent, so that my kids turn out to be capable, self sufficient, & independent adults.

Let me take you back to when I was 15.  I spent my entire life's savings ($800 of birthday money, babysitting money, etc.) on my 1984 Pontiac Fiero that we purchased at an auction.  My dad paid the other half.   From that moment on, that car was my responsibility.  The maintenance, the insurance, the gas to drive it, etc.  I worked the summer of my Junior year (when I started actually driving the car) and eventually worked a full time job at the hospital from 3:00-11:00pm every weekday night (after a full day of school) my SENIOR YEAR of high school, just to be able to afford to drive (and keep that car driving) around.  I didn't get to hang out with my friends.  I didn't get to sing in choir (though I had the other three years)!  I didn't get to play tennis or any do cheerleading either.  I WORKED!!  I worked hard!  But I learned to manage money, to provide for myself and to handle it!

How many kids now days pay for their phone service every month?
Pay for their cars (payments and insurance)?
Pay for the gas in their cars?
Pay for the designer clothes they have to have?
Pay for the STARBUCKS they insist on drinking everyday?

As an adult, I've had to sell off things that I loved...even valuables, to make ends meet for me and my kids at times.  I've cried myself to sleep at night, wondering how I was going to manage to pay the bills, keep the electricity turned on and have enough food on the table to feed my kids.  I struggled, I wiggled, I worked my butt off, I sold things that I never wanted to sell, I stepped out of my comfort zone & begged for employment, and I FOUGHT to provide for them...because I was capable of doing that!  Because my parents raised me to be strong, confident and gave me tools (through the struggles & life lessons I went through in my upbringing) to manage.   I can say that I was proud of my parents, now that I can look back through adult eyes, for letting me manage through the struggles myself.

WE are raising a generation with their HANDS OUT!  They pout if they don't have the newest iPhone or can't get a Starbucks before school.  They get seriously upset and bothered when their smallest need isn't met in an instant.  LIKE SERIOUSLY!!  We better jump the second they yell help or they might need years of therapy later on because we didn't.
We cater to their every whim, in a hope that they won't have to struggle and hurt in life.

STRUGGLING is part of growing up!  We, as parents, hate to see our kids hurting!  Trust me, I'm a very sympathetic mommy and I love my kids more than I love myself.  However, the reality is that LIFE IS HARD!  It throws us curve balls, it sometimes kicks us in the balls and we have to still keep GOING!!  Are we teaching our children to manage through it?  Are we letting the kids struggle, fall and instead of being their security blanket (or wrapping them in bubble wrap so they don't feel anything)...just being a net to keep them from hitting rock bottom?  OR are we spoiling them?  Do we hear their requests and jump immediately to get for them or do for them exactly what they want, the minute that they want it?

This YouTube video really struck me this morning HARD, because there truly are people who are STARVING TO DEATH in this world.  Children who have no food to eat, no clean water to drink and families who are dying from diseases because they have NO HELP!  These are not the kids being raised in the USA.  The spoiled rotten children (I'm just as guilty as the rest in spoiling mine too), who can't lift a finger, who can't hold steady jobs as adults and who can't seem to function or make a decision without someone else doing it for them.

WE ARE AT FAULT PARENTS!  It's our job to help them grow to become independent adults.  If we are doing everything for them, giving everything to them and not letting them struggle & grow on their own...we are raising a GENERATION OF NEEDY people who won't be able to handle what the REAL WORLD throws at them.  WE will be launching them into life feeling like victims!  They are going to hate us someday for not helping them become independent...or they are going to hate us for their failures, because they easily place blame on everyone but themselves.  They are going to be parents teaching their kids to expect instead of do!

My advice...wake up!  STOP CATERING and start helping your kids out!  Don't mamby pamby around their emotions, afraid they might get angry with you!  LIFE IS HARD!  It's our job to teach them to be strong enough to manage through adulthood independently and capable, despite hardships and hurt.  It's our job to support them and encourage them that they can do whatever they set their minds to!  It's our job to let them know we are here for them...but not enabling them to rely solely on us providing for them.
Honestly, they have to do it for themselves!
They have to be the ones who stumble and cry and GROW!

Otherwise, we'll be sponsoring the kids of the they can enjoy their yoga classes, eat expensive meals out at gourmet restaurants and carry the latest version of the iPhone in their pockets...

~One Not So Bored Mommy

P.S.  Feel free to comment below!  I'm sure I'll get some mixed emotions about this...but I had to speak my mind after watching that video this morning!  So ridiculous and yet, so real for this generation we are raising!  It really does scare me!

My Clothes Buying Secret - Shhhh It's @AliExpress

There are so many ADORABLE women's clothing boutiques online, that sell the most adorable trendy tees right now.  Have you seen them?  Some of them have the cutest sayings I've ever seen.  Some of them relate to mom's...other's to certain activities, etc.
Some of them are so expensive, I could only afford one t-shirt on my budget!

I am an affiliate with AliExpress.  Any purchases made through the links on my site will earn me some money.  I purchased all the t-shirts listed below on my own accord, they were NOT sent free of charge for this review/feature.

Maybe it's just me...but I WANT THEM ALL!!
I hate being restricted to how much I can buy because of the price of something!
Especially when I know for a fact that the prices are inflated a lot in some of these online boutique stores!

I found a secret, which actually enables to me to afford as many of these adorable tees and I want to buy.  NO...I'm not lying!  I'm dead serious!
I'm on a tight budget, so when it comes to buying clothes for myself, I rarely do...unless I can find a bargain.

Are you ready for my secret?

This website has just about everything you can imagine.  NOT EVEN KIDDING!  You can buy a wedding dress or outfit your entire wedding party.  You can dress your kids, husband and even yourself with the trendiest clothing for CHEAP!
They have house goods, electronics and so much more!

But Shhhhhh....It's my secret!
Okay, maybe it can be yours too.
CHECK OUT THESE ADORABLE tees I just recently bought from ALIEXPRESS.

These tops range in prices, but nothing over $10 is shown above!
I'm serious!!
Isn't that incredible?
The only challenge is waiting for your package to arrive, because most of it is shipped from overseas.   But depending on what you're buying a lot of the products come with free shipping too! To me, the wait is worth the fact that I get a plethora of clothes for very little $$ and yet I look like a million bucks (if I was buying them from the online boutiques I've seen).  I'd be iffy, but I've had nothing but a great experience with them and so far, have been nothing but satisfied with how my money was spent.

CLICK HERE to check out all that AliExpress has to offer you and your family!

I will make money based off the purchases of products through my affiliate links.  All the items pictured above were purchased on my own accord and were not sent free of charge.
